William Albert Dirr, (95), passed away on February 20, 2021 at the Saint Elizabeth Hospice Care Center with his wife, Margie Coleman Dirr by his side. Sgt. Bill was born on April 10, 1925 in Cincinnati, OH to the late William and Marie Dirr. He married Margie Coleman Dirr on December 30, 2017 in Alexandria, Kentucky. Bill worked at Pitney Bowes for 42 years, before retiring in 1988. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family at the Bob White Sports Club, The Pub in Crestview Hills, and St. Elizabeth Cardiac Rehab. Bill was a proud member of the United States Army Engineers and served in World War II in the South Pacific. Bill was a Boy Scout Leader when his son Michael was a boy scout. He was a hard worker and entrepreneur, with a deep love for his country. Bill is survived by his wife, Margie Coleman Dirr, his children, Michael (Patti) Dirr, Jane (Tony) Cherot, Donnie (Janet) Coleman, Gregg (Joan) Coleman, and Michael (Gina) Coleman, grandchildren Billy (Lindsey) Dirr, Sarah (Dan) Abercrombie, Jason Cherot, Nicole Cherot, Kara (Jon) Towarnicki, Brandt, Matthew, Leah, Stephanie, Sarah Coleman, and Meredith Coleman, great grandchildren Ella Dirr, Willa Dirr, and Ainsley Abercrombie. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Marie and William Dirr, first wife, Margaret Jane Dirr, brothers Don, Dan, Dick, and Bobby Dirr, and grandson Brian Dirr. A service will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Williamstown, KY on Friday, April 9th. A further celebration will take place at the Bob White Club on April 10,2021.
