Harry Thomas Payne (Tom), age 87, went to celebrate his new life on September 13, 2024, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Tom was born in Huntington, West Virginia, to the late Harry and Violet Payne on August 12, 1937. Tom attended and played sports at Huntington High School and Marshall University before joining the Navy in 1957. Tom worked in construction for over 50 years with Guyan Homes and later Tom Payne Construction in Huntington. He enjoyed Marshall sports, watching the Reds and sometimes the Bengals. After retirement in 2014, Tom moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to join his daughters and their families, where he attended many of the grandchildren’s sporting events. Tom is survived by his 2 daughters, Sharon (Scott) Rhodes, Brenda (Joseph) Frankenhoff, 8 grandchildren, Rick Payne (Nadia), Elisa Frankenhoff, Jason Rhodes, Kyle Rhodes (Laurel), Sydney Rhodes, Jordyn Rhodes, Ian Rhodes, Ryan Rhodes, and 2 great grandchildren, Brody and Brennan Hall. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Charles Walter Payne. Arrangements will be made at a later time for a memorial to be held in Huntington, West Virginia.
