Edmund Paul Sippel finished his earthly race and was awarded a crown of righteousness on November 25, 2022. He succumbed to a sudden, massive heart attack at Kettering Hospital, Kettering, OH. He was born January 28, 1960, in Cincinnati at Good Samaritan Hospital to Paul and Joan (Moraites) Sippel.
A 1978 graduate of Fairfield High School, he followed in his father’s footsteps and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Cincinnati where he was on the dean’s list multiple times. Ed enjoyed helping people and spent his career in various retail and customer service positions.
Ed’s considered the members of Hamilton’s St Paul UCC and Faith Church his second family. He served his Savior in a variety of positions. He taught young adults, served as Elder on church council and assisted with outreach ministries. One of his favorite activities was the church picnic where he won several foot races. Despite his lack of cooking skills, Ed proudly co-organized the church’s Thanksgiving dinners.
Ed had individualistic interests and hobbies. Ed loved sports and followed the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals closely. Additionally, Ed relished a good conspiracy theory. He surprised his friends with his version of Funky Cold Medina at karaoke. Also, Ed was a movie buff owning a large, eclectic collection of movies.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, John R Wellbeloved.
He is survived by his siblings, Samuel (Ellen) Sippel of Fairfield, Paula Wellbeloved of Venice, Florida and Norman (Theresa) Sippel of Hamilton. He is also survived by a nephew John P Wellbeloved, Venice, Florida. Ed left behind a wide circle of family and friends including his mentor James Taylor, Fairfield.
Ed was cremated and will be laid to rest in the Sippel family plot at Rose Hill Burial Park, Princeton Road. The graveside service will be October 17, 2023 at 1 pm, Rev. Jeremy Pruitt officiating. Memorials can be made in Ed’s name to the Phyllis Sippel Memorial Scholarship fund in care of the Hamilton Community Foundation.
