Shannon Lee Lawrence (nee Kiefer) May 18, 1971 - November 4, 2023

Shannon Lee Lawrence (nee Kiefer), born May 18, 1971, left her bereaved family and friends on Saturday, November 4, 2023. Shannon was 52 years old and left us far too soon.

She was preceded in death by her father, Darryl Len Kiefer, who we know met his cherished brown eyed girl on the other side with open arms. She is survived by her two children, Taylor McElfresh and Tanner Lawrence; her mother, Karen Kiefer; her siblings Michelle Earle (Steve), Ryan Kiefer (Amber) and Marissa Heeg; many beloved nieces and nephews; her best friend forever and ever, Renee Hill (Richter); and countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Shannon lived life with an open, generous, kind and compassionate heart. She loved her children and family, cooking for and feeding people, laughing, country music, and animals – especially her dog, Red and riding horses with The Tipsy Chicks.

Shannon also enjoyed collecting inspiring quotes and poems which she copied into her many journals, including this:

“To Those I Love”

When I am gone, release me, let me go.

I have so many things to see and do.

You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears.

Be happy that we had so many years.

I gave you love. You can only guess

how much you gave to me in happiness.

I thank you for the love you have shown

but now its time I traveled on alone.

So grieve awhile for me if grieve you must,

then let your grief be comforted by trust.

It’s only for a while that we must part,

so bless the memories with your heart.

I won’t be far away, for life goes on.

So, if you need me, call and I will come.

Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near

and if you listen with your heart you’ll hear

all my love around you soft and clear,

and then when you must come this way alone,

I’ll greet you with a smile and welcome you home.

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Shannon on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 415 Park Avenue, Newport, KY at 12:00 noon. Family and friends are invited to gather in Fellowship Hall after the service for hugs and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Shannon’s name to: Campbell County Animal Shelter.
