Harriet Hatley Smith, 71, left this world on June 7, 2023. She was born June 23, 1951, in Caldwell County, NC, to the late Frank and Jewel Hart Hatley. She was predeceased by her partner Rick Cloud, a brother Luther Carver and a sister Libby Carver Underdown. Harriet is survived by her beloved daughter Christina Hope Setser and partner Brendan Daugherty of Cincinnati; her chosen (but favorite) daughter Bobby Lunsford of Cincinnati; friend Jimmy Lunsford of Cincinnati; those that called her Graham Cracker, Maiya Lunsford and Terry Frost; two sisters, Nancy Hatley of Hudson, NC, and Becky Huskey and husband Steven of Greenville, SC; a brother Robert Hatley and wife Patty, of Hudson, NC; five nieces, 2 nephews and countless friends.
Harriet graduated from Hudson High School in Hudson, NC, where she was active in band and orchestra. She moved to Cincinnati In 1980, where she began her career as a certified medical coder. At the time of her death, she was employed by Medical Reimbursement.
Harriet was smart, funny, generous, creative, and stubborn. She enjoyed creating beautiful crafted items for loved ones. She fiercely loved her cats and all animals.
