At the Fares J. Radel Funeral Homes and Crematory, we have been honored to serve the families of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky for over 125 years. It has not only been a privilege in providing caring, thoughtful, and professional funeral services but in adopting innovations to advance the industry.
Throughout the years, we were one of the first funeral directors in the country to offer motorized vehicles. We were one of the first to embrace pre-planning and in-home funeral consultation services. We have seen funerals evolve from dark, dismal ceremonies to more casual celebrations of life, and we brought a service dog to our team to help console the grieving. We even have multiple locations for the convenience of the families we serve. One of the most significant advancements we have made was the addition of our own crematorium, the first privately owned facility of its kind in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Cremations now account for over half of all final services. They continue to grow in popularity and are changing the entire funeral industry. Here is a closer look at the impact of cremations.
Continued Growth in Popularity
While today, cremations account for over half of final services, that acceptance and popularity are expected to grow even more. In the next two decades, it is anticipated that cremations will be a part of over 80% of all funerals.
Decreasing Final Expenses
Cremations have traditionally been less expensive than traditional funerals and burials. That trend should continue as more people choose the option. Cremations offer more flexibility than traditional funerals, and while services can still be elaborate, families have less expensive alternatives.
More Funeral Homes will offer Crematories
While Fares J. Radel has been the leader in Greater Cincinnati, more funeral homes will likely add crematories to their services.
The Green Aspects of Cremations will be Further Embraced
Cremations are already considered to be more environmentally friendly than traditional burials. They use fewer resources and don’t necessarily require a burial plot, and options like organic burial urns and containers are an option. As more families choose cremation for its environmental aspects, more green features will likely become available.
Advancements in Water Cremations
As cremations become more popular, other advances are taking place. There is an evolving water cremation process that uses an alkaline hydrolysis liquid process instead of flame to dispose of the body. Human composting is also a growing initiative in the industry.
The funeral and cremation industry continues to evolve, and you can count on the Fares J. Radel team to stay connected with these changes. If you have a current need or are in the process of pre-planning, please contact us. We would be honored to serve as the funeral director for your family.
