Karen S. Sears (nee Matthews), age 65, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 10, 2021 after a courageous battle with a long illness. She was employed as a Fraud Specialist with Synchrony Financial in Kettering, Ohio for over 20 years. Karen had an amazing creative talent and in her spare time she loved to knit, crochet and do needlepoint; making beautiful gifts she would share with her family and friends; items that will be cherished forever. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Matthews, Sr., and a brother, Timothy. She is survived by her loving and devoted fiancé, Aaron Jay Woolf, Covington, KY; her siblings Pamela Matthews, Dayton, KY; Helen Krieg, Wilder, KY; Mary Matthews, Wilder, KY; Linda (Kenneth) Gardner, Cincinnati, OH ; James (Kimberly) Matthews, Jr., Dayton, KY; and Sheryl (Robert) Stolze, Cincinnati, OH. Karen is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews; 7 great nieces and nephews; her dear friend Lisa Godsey, as well as many other friends and coworkers.
The family would like to thank the medical staff and clergy of St. Elizabeth Hospital Edgewood for the kind and compassionate care provided to Karen during her illness. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at St. Dominic Church, 4551 Delhi Pike, Delhi Township, Ohio.
