Many people are under the mistaken belief that because they let family members know they wish to be cremated, it eliminates any need for pre-planning. They may feel that because they don’t want an elaborate funeral, planning for a cremation is unnecessary. That is a mistake you should avoid.
Planning your cremation can be a wonderful gift for your loved ones during a difficult time. It will give you peace of mind and give you assurance your wishes will be carried out.
Growth in the Acceptance of Cremation
In 1960, just 4% of Americans were cremated. Today, that number has surpassed 50% and continues to grow. Its growth in popularity has been fueled by religious acceptance of the process and lower costs when compared to a traditional burial. It also is perceived as a more “green” and environmentally friendly process when compared to embalming and burial. It is part of our mission at The Cremation Society of Cincinnati to help people better understand the process and make better choices when planning for it.
What’s Involved in Planning a Cremation?
There may be fewer decisions to be made with a cremation than with a traditional funeral, but there are still choices to be made. At the Cremation Society of Greater Cincinnati we have made the process as simple and straightforward as possible.
Our knowledgeable staff understands Medicaid guidelines and will help determine your eligibility for assistance and in placing your Medicaid spend down in an irrevocable trust. They will discuss your options in urns, visiting hours and what should happen to cremains. They will even come to your home to assist in final arrangements.
